HeadshotAndy Z delights kids and kids-at-heart with his musical adventures.  But, Andreas Zamenes didn’t set out to be a children’s music artist.

A singer/songwriter from the San Francisco Bay Area, Andy earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music from San Francisco State University.  Along the way, he played in various bands including CD releases with his own, Tinman™, and a solo project.  And, to supplement his income, Andy worked in the computer industry while performing and recording as much as possible.

When a Silicon Valley downturn forced him out of the tech industry, Andy saw it as a sign to devote his time to his passion for music and performance.

It was during this time that Andy was approached by a fan at a coffee house to fill in for an ailing music teacher at a San Francisco preschool. It would be easy – just sing and play for the kids.

On that day, the children, parents and teachers were captivated by Andy’s easy-going, fun and infectious musical style – and Andy loved it!  He was able to, at last, combine his passion for music with his love of storytelling, character voices and performance.  And, so, ‘Andy Z’ was born.

HeadshotAndy Z will have your children smiling, singing and dancing along as he takes them on an imaginary tour of the Andyland Islands.  His story adventure performances feature a full host of Andyland characters, traditional and contemporary music plus original songs from his multiple award-winning “Andyland” CD series and his debut CD, “Pockets”.  Read about the CD series and Andy Z’s recent Disney Family iParenting Media Awards here.

Children are drawn in by his use of character voices, puppets and music that runs the gamut from educational to just plain silly; dance songs to lullabies, sing-a-longs to finger plays to full body movement. Genres include rock, British pop, jazz, folk, country, hip-hop, blues, Irish and classic traditional kids’ tunes. To hear a sample of Andy Z’s own musical style, click here. Andy’s acoustic solo shows are fun and energetic – and he also performs with his group, the Andyland Band. These shows make the most of the harmonic energy provided by an electric performance and feature props, costumes and, often, some very talented kids, the Andyland Dancers.

These dynamic performances are not to be missed. Check out Andy’s current schedule. [link to calendar/schedule]
